About Us
Greater Moncton Quilt Guild
My soul is fed...
by my needle & thread.
As a non-profit organization, we support affiliated quilting groups providing charitable projects.
Within the Guild there are two very active groups who work on quilts for charity, the Monday
Marvels and the Wednesday Wonders. Individually, several of our guild members donate quilts to
many local community groups and charities. Quilts have been presented to Moncton Headstart Inc.,
Habitat for Humanity and the R.C.M.P. Many organizations like the Moncton Hospital VON have
raffled the Guild’s quilts as fundraisers.

How We Began...
After meeting one another at Quilt Canada in Halifax, Margaret Sawyer and Carole Mehner came
together with three others to organize a new guild. The GREATER MONCTON QUILT GUILD
(GMQG) held their first official meeting in 1986 with 12 members. At this first meeting they
formalized their aims and objectives of providing a forum for quilters to meet, to exchange ideas, to
organize workshops and seminars on quilting to improve their quilting techniques. Today our annual
membership ranges from 85 to 100 ladies. We presently meet at the Golden Age club on Elmwood
Drive, the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.  All quilters are invited to join us.
